Removing Surplus and Disposition of

Before surplus equipment and furniture is designated as recycling or trash, internal placement and then outside donations should be the first step. Reusing saves money on waste disposal and avoids the cost of new items.

If you have items that you no longer need, please click here to review a wish list of people and organizations waiting for items. Tufts departments and affiliates have first choice over our community partners. This wish list is not open for personal requests.

Process:

Check the wish list to see if someone needs an item like the one you are holding.

If yes: contact the person to confirm whether your item meets their need. If yes:  arrange for a moving company (if applicable)  or Facilities Services to move the item to the delivery location listed on the wish list. Facilities Services requests can be made via an online  request for service.

If no: create a request for disposal via an online  request for service. Facilities Services will recycle all recyclables items.   If this is a large move involving an outside contractor, please be sure that they are aware of the campus recycling program. Dawn Quirk can provide information 617/ 627-3810.

If a surplus item that you are trying to place  is not on the wish list, please contact Sue Fuller-DeAmato at Community Relations 617-617-3780; she may be able to facilitate reuse with a local community group that is in need.
