Every year at the beginning of fall semester, the Tufts residence halls get stuffed with boxes, bins, and all sorts of moving paraphernalia as thousands of students descend upon the Hill.

Please do your part to keep the halls clear and help your packing material take on a new life by following the guide below! Ask your Eco-Rep if you have any questions!

Before you arrive:

  • Prevent waste from entering the waste stream by packing in reusable containers
  • Think before you bring – do you really need that item? Can you share something with your roommate?

When unpacking:

  • Separate Styrofoam, plastic and other items from your boxes.
  • Break down your boxes and bring them and other trash and recyclables to the dumpsters outside (look for the posters with the map or check out the infrastructure map)
  • Only plastic containers with the numbers #1-7 are recyclable with the Mixed Recycling. Plastic bags, film and other soft plastics cannot go in the mixed recycling bin – even if they have a recycle logo and number on them. Look for theTrex bins.
